Zero waste cocktails? We're IN!

Cheers to sustainable cocktails
It's no secret that at Hawksbill Rum we're big fans of sustainability and protecting sea turtles. So, when we combine our love for that with our love for good drinks, we're in rum HEAVEN!
With British summer upon us, we say that now is the perfect time to try new drinks and experiment with new flavours to find your go-to drink for sipping in the sun. Did we mention that our zero-waste cocktails are perfect for exactly that?
Say goodbye to throwing away a bottle of flat fizz or an unused knob of ginger and say hello to cocktails that not only taste great but are great for our planet too!
Champagne Syrup Spritz
We suggest keeping this one for a special occasion, but making this cocktail is pretty simple though as you just build all of the ingredients together in a large wine glass.
You'll need to make a homemade champagne syrup though and for that, you'll need: 1 cup sugar, flat champagne, sliced overly ripe pear, a thumb of ginger, cinnamon stick and then you just need to simmer everything together on a low heat until the sugar has dissolved.
50ml Hawksbill Caribbean Spiced Rum
20ml Lime Juice
15ml Champagne Syrup
Top with Soda
1 lime
Frozen Rum Punch
If you can, it's better to shop locally for your fruit and veg to support your local high street. We suggest popping your strawberries straight in the freezer when you get home too to keep them fresh for longer which makes the BEST kind of cocktails.
50ml Hawksbill Caribbean Spiced Rum
25ml Lime Juice
50ml Orange Juice
50ml Pineapple Juice
A handful of Frozen British Strawberries
Simply add all the ingredients to a blender and blitz until smooth. If you're looking for a slightly thicker consistency but add in some extra ice and blend again.
Ginger Fizz
This is another great cocktail that's luckily quite simple to build in a flute glass and just involves getting creative to make your homemade ginger syrup. Once you've used your ginger, remember to pop it in the freezer to keep it fresh instead of throwing it out.
To make the ginger syrup, peel some ginger and chop it into small cubes and then immerse in sugar. Leave this for a couple of days and the sugar will have drawn liquid out of ginger and formed a tasty syrup. You can use some flat prosecco to thin it out if you need.
